2008 AZ Tax Credit information

Did you know...

Arizona allows individuals to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their State of Arizona income tax for contributions made to public schools. Individuals may contribute any amount up to $200, and married couples may jointly contribute up to $400 to any public school in Arizona. The full amount of the contribution is deducted from your state income tax-due for the year, substantially reducing, and in some cases eliminating your need to send a tax payment to the state department of revenue. This contribution applies to any Arizona taxpayer who anticipates owing state taxes on their 2008 income taxes!

These funds are very important to our students! Without them many extracurricular activities, such as educational field-trips and after-school clubs would be impossible for our teachers and students to afford.

Contributions must be made before December 31, 2008, in order to apply to your 2008 tax return. Forms can be downloaded in here.

Still have questions? Feel free to call our school office at 928-773-4140. The Arizona Department of Revenue has also published tax credit information online here. FUSD has made additional school tax credit information available online.

Our school office or the FUSD Business Office will happily receive your tax credit contribution anytime during business hours on-or-before December 31!

Christensen Site Council Minutes - Dec. 9, 2008

Christensen School

Site Council Meeting
December 9, 2008
[.pdf version ]

In attendance: Marilyn Noyes, Cindy Walzer, Mr. Ontiveros, Kathy Smith, Rosie Seyler, Denise Koenig, Bobby Macias, Jana Fix

Mrs. Noyes called the meeting to order at 4:33 pm. The minutes from the last meeting were approved by all.

Meeting Objectives:

The Christensen Site Council will discuss:

  • Budget
  • RTI
  • 4Sight Results
  • PTIO Activities
  • District Information

Old Business

I. Budget: Mr. Ontiveros said we still don’t have any money.

II. RTI Information: Mr. Macias said they met on 11/12/08, a flex-group meeting, and shifted a few kids around (10-15 kids). Their next benchmark is in January. The next meeting will be 1/14/09 and will include all the Dibels testing and new interventions. A note will be going out tomorrow for teachers to start progress monitoring.

III. 4Sight Results: Mr. O. provided us with a copy of a handout showing where we are at. It was also very exciting and interesting to see the graphs that Mr. O. printed out.

IV. District Information: The talk about possibly closing a school has been put on hold. The latest thought is to close both middle schools, and put in a 7th-12th middle/high school. Cindy W. sits on the Parent Advisory Committee and added that Dr. Brown is focused on the advancing at ability level vs age levels. Denise did not feel that she’d want her 7th grader going to school with 12th graders, even though they might be in different areas of the building. Many other members felt they did not like this idea either.

V. PTIO Activities: Mr. Macias said Pastries for Parents had a great turn-out and they had great coffee and music and just the right amount of food. Their next event will be 12/17/08. Craft Night will be fun for families to come make a craft together along with being able to shop at Santa’s Secret Shop. This event will start at 6:00 pm and end by 7:30 pm. In February, there may be a cake walk.

New Business

I. Unfortunately, Cub/Boy Scouts have petered out . . . Cindy Walzer wondered if after school, any teachers or staff would be interested in starting up a den for Christensen students? Cindy would be available to help out at the administrative level. Mr. O. will put something in his bulletin.

II. Mrs. Noyes added that the “Character Counts” will be this Friday, December 12th, 2008. They will perform at 9:00 am for the primary grades and 10:00 am for the intermediate grades. She has 24 kids involved, 22 performers & 2 stagehands. PTIO will support this group by treating them with a pizza party. Mrs. Noyes will also host a Singalong on Dec. 19th at 2:00 pm in the gym.

The next site council meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 10th, 2009 in the library. Denise will chair.

What are we doing that has been of benefit for the Christensen children?
Marilyn personally wants to thank Mr. Macias for RTI and PTIO, Jana likes Character Counts, Mr. O. likes C.C., too, Bobby likes the C.C. because it will be a great example for our school, Denise agrees with C.C., Rosie’s excited about the Craft Night and Cindy’s providing the music, Cindy W. “kinkos” the C.C..

The meeting was adjourned at 5:21 pm.
